In celebration of World Ocean Month, the U.S. National Science Foundation Division of Ocean Sciences invites you to the 7th annual Frontiers in Ocean Sciences Symposium on Monday, June 30, 12:30–4:30 PM (EDT). This free, virtual event spotlights scientists advancing ocean research and features a discussion on a publicly-available consensus report by The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, titled "Forecasting the Ocean: The 2025–2035 Decade of Ocean Science".

The authors of this report were tasked with a request to "provide advice to NSF on focusing its investments in ocean research, infrastructure, and workforce to meet national and global challenges in the coming decade and beyond". After a conversation with committee members of the report, there will be presentations from scientists studying ocean and climate science, ecosystem resilience, and extreme events. We'll hear about their research, where they see their field heading in the coming decade, and how this science relates to all of us more broadly.

For more information, and to register in advance to receive a link to join this virtual event, please visit: https://www.nsf.gov/events/7th-annual-frontiers-ocean-sciences-symposium/2025-06-30

Anyone interested in the broader impacts to society of work in earth and ocean sciences, STEM education and workforce development is very welcome to join for all or part of the webinar, and to bring questions. Attached is a flyer with further details, and below is the schedule (subject to minor changes). Please feel free to share this information with your networks. Thank you!
